Having a Trouble Meditating? Try Reiki.
When I ask clients if they have ever tried meditation? The common answers I hear are: “My mind doesn’t stop thinking. I am too stressed out to sit still. I tried it and it didn’t work. I don’t think I am doing it right. I didn’t get any of those “Aha!” moments of clarity.”
By far the biggest obstacle people have when starting meditation practice is stopping the mind chatter. The ongoing mind chatter during meditation is the main reason why people give up in frustration.
All these reasons, I can personally relate too, before I discovered Reiki I couldn’t meditate for longer than 5 minutes! I was so busy and stressed out, sitting still felt impossible. It wasn’t until I discovered Reiki that I was able to quieten my mind of the chatter which lead to improvements in my meditation practice.
Why Meditate?
Meditation is a powerful technique used for quieting that internal chatter of the mind. There are various different ways to meditate, and it is a personal preference on which practice works for you. Research conducted on long term mediators found that there is a difference in the way their brain’s function compared with non-mediators. Specifically there was a reduction of activity in the left side of the brain. This resulted in activation of alpha and theta brain waves, where the person meditating experienced less brain chatter.
Depending on what activity your brain is engaged in, our brains produce different frequencies of electrical activity (brain waves) across it’s neuronal pathways. Alpha waves are primarily associated with states of relaxation or stillness. Theta waves are more predominant in skilled mediators and represent a quiet watchfulness, the mind watching its thoughts. Both types of waves show relaxation and the pause of active, busy or anxious thinking.
How Reiki Helps
Reiki, is life force energy in action. When the Reiki practitioner places their hand on your body, they activate your energy centres or charkas within your body. Reiki is an active flow of life force energy directed and absorbed by all levels of the body-physical, mental/emotional and spiritual. Your body will be able to use the energy to find balance in its own way.
The word Reiki is a two part Japanese word, “Rei” meaning higher power wisdom, and “Ki” meaning life force energy. When combined, Reiki means “spiritually guided life force energy.”
During a Reiki session, if you are able to stay still for long enough and slip into a deeply meditative state. The brain can produce the same mediative alpha and theta brain waves, allowing you to experience the same effects of meditation without the discipline practice. The key difference between Reiki and meditation is the technique used to gain the same result.
